Outdoor training on Thursday evenings from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at Graves Park near the Cobnar Road Car Park.

Squad Members:
Focussing on the players doing as much work with the ball as possible. The sessions are aimed towards developing and improving player technique, touch and skill, ball skills, quick feet, reaction speed and things that will not generally come naturally to 5 and 6 year olds such as simple combination play and awareness. Matches will generally be 4 v 4 small sided games so that each player gets plenty of the ball.

At this age fitness work and running around without a ball is simply not appropriate. Fitness related stuff becomes more important as players get older so the days of running around like a nutter at 6, 7 or 8 years old are long gone. That said, there will regularly be some simple work designed to improve speed and reactions using cones, hurdles or ladders. I hope that we can give these children a good grounding to play competitive football as they get older.

What we will focus on

· Working with balls at the players feet as much as we can
· Improving the non dominant foot to give the players two reasonable feet
· Developing skill using different size balls from size 0 to size 3
· 4 v 4 small sided games using normal footballs or Futsal balls
· Having a lot of laughs along the way

What we will try to avoid / not do

· Excessive queuing and waiting around
· Excessive fitness work
· Running without a purpose
· Running without a ball
